Default Ryan Cathedral all koa 12 string build thread

My build slot has finally come up! Excited is too weak a word, as this is also my very first custom guitar build.

It'll be a Cathedral model, 12 string, extra body depth, and yes - all koa. It's going to be a stunner for sure. Here's some pics of the wood we chose:

It'll have cocobolo binding/bevel/accents. Here's what the bevel will look like with the koa. There's an ebony bevel included just for visual comparison.

What does this jig do? Anyone know? Kevlar fiber with an XLR output??? My guess is this is a jig for the sharp cutaway. But what is the kevlar for?

The guitar will have the sharp cutaway, but I'm not sure what that material is either. I'll ask KR about that now...

That is a jig to bend the cutaway part for the florentine. The Kevlar looking material is actually a silicone heating blanket.

Beautiful! Nice lineup of guitars in your sig tag too. What color combination of Calton case did you get?

I'm getting a granite colored one too. I like the look of the Ryan "R" logo embossed on the Calton case, nice subtle effect.

KYEE - Beautiful start! Wonderful looking figure to your Koa set! Like the Cocobolo bevel too, should be a wonderful contrast to the figure and color of your Koa sides. Best of Luck!

CPA - Obscenely beautiful Cathedral. You have me lusting a bit ... there, I'm over it (for now ) .

I really have too many guitars...I should have a contest for each person to write in and justify why I should give them a free guitar......

I think I will start that contest the day after NEVER LOL

All in favor of officially naming November 8 as "never day", say "Aye"... I'd be the first to line up with that collection. Beautiful Ryan.

KYEE- it will be fun to watch this build. Nice looking Koa.
