You missed the "joke" - I said they'd have to move the decimal point for me - those guys moved it THE WRONG WAY!

Butch Boswell, with the help of friends, found another source for quality redwood.
One of the friends found it on an abandoned railroad track and tunnel.

SpruceTop: I absolutely love Claro Walnut with Redwood, amazing finger style wood combination. I've got it on a Lowden F50 and Charis SJ.

I know of an 1880s railroad tunnel in my area that was reinforced with redwood from Oregon. When the railroads went away, both ends of the tunnel were caved in and sealed, so nobody has been in it for 110 years or more. All that redwood should still be in there.

I've hiked up to the east side. It's pretty high at el. 11,523. The trail is the old rail bed.

I've thought about all that redwood, and wondered why nobody has tried to salvage it. The tunnel was 2,000 feet long, so it's a lot of wood.

We have old photos of the tunnel at our local museum where I volunteer, and the redwood beams are plain to see. They are huge beams. Could make hundreds of guitars.

Even a 1 7/8 nut - but they'd have to move the decimal point for me!
That would be quite a guitar although $15K is getting up there. And for me that 1 7/8" nut width would be awful. I'd still like the chance to play this guitar! I bet it sounds great.

Ive known Bruce since high school. My photo studio photographed his guitars for a long time as a favor to him. he is a great person.

Luckily I have a redwood walnut guitar of his. It is my second Petros.

It plays everything well both with fingers and picks. Great sustain.

All my guitars have all been 1.75 inch width necks. i have to issues with the wider neck.

I know they are expensive but if you are in the market for a guitar in this price range you wil love it.

Thanks for the back story on the Tunnel 13 designation. I learn something new every day.

Beautiful guitar and song. Tunnel 13 wood reminds me of the Lucky Strike tree from the same region.

They do sound great. This is the one that I bought. It had a slightly narrower nut.

Oh Yeah! That does sound good! Really good to my ears! It's sounds a lot like my Olson but with a little more treble from the redwood (my Olson has a cedar top). And what a pretty guitar, too! Thanks for that!

I think Al Petteway could make a cardboard guitar sound great, especially with that song.

JFC, I’m still trying to wrap my head around a 3500.00 Martin triple 0. With no discounts. Kinda like cars since Covid.

This is really only for the wealthy. It’s beautiful and all, and I’m positive the workmanship exceeds standards. I listened to the vid thru good headphones and it sounded like a good guitar, but as said, Pettiway could make a 70s Epiphone sound like you need it.

I’m thankful there are golden baubles that fascinate and are examples of workmanship that exceed many expectations. Like Ferrari or Rolls, Rolex, etc. so this isn’t a “diss” post. I’d like to see a Petros worn like a ‘37 Martin though.
