Goodall Serial Number Thread

Goodall Guitars each display a chronological serial number on the label glued to the inside of the soundbox. Although the actual build completion date was also provided on this label in the first few decades of the company's production (such as on my Brazilian/Sitka Standard Cutaway completed on 8/6/93), the actual build date has not been provided for the majority of later Goodalls completed thus far - - and definitely not in the past two decades.

The purpose of this thread is to list and update the serial number/completion dates of Goodall Guitars owned by AGF members and guests. This list is meant as a reference source, so that a prospective buyer of a used Goodall can quickly find its approximate (or, in some cases, actual) completion date.

Much of the serial number/completion date information shown here was taken from a previous thread titled "The Goodall Thread (Serial Numbers, Pictures, Discuss Anything Goodall!)", and the link is shown below. However, the original poster of that thread is no longer active on the AGF, so it cannot be updated:

Please note that the completion date information contained here was supplied by AGF members and guests, and that some of the dates are approximated. I have personally verified many of the serial number/dates listed with the Goodall company; however, there may be discrepancies. In any case, this list should at the minimum be helpful in approximating a build completion date to avoid misunderstandings during someone's buying process of a used Goodall.

Updated and new information is certainly welcome, and I will make corrections and add new serial number/date information as I receive it.

Thanks for doing this. If you are editing, I have TW000 - 6766 Completed first week of August 2019

In the spirit of the original thread here are some pictures of my TW000 as it arrived in August 2019. It arrived very tight and constricted. It took 6 months before I was convinced it was going to mature into the amazing instrument it has become.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I'm the proud owner of RGC 6166. Not sure when it was built, because I bought it second hand from Music Emporium in Lexington, MA sometime in 2014 I think.

Thanks for posting, Burnsen14. The Goodalls have been building around eight guitars per month since their move back to California over a decade ago, so I'm estimating that your RGC6166 was completed in February 2013. If you receive the actual completion date from the Goodalls, please let me know.

Hey Martz, I have RS400. The list shows July 1990, the actual completion date is May 15, 1990. Coincidentally the guitar was completed on my sons 4th birthday...

I have 6166 and recently confirmed with Goodall that its completion date was indeed February of 2013 as is already estimated on the list.

My 1984 has a lot of wear from a heavy player followed by lots of checking from a decade in MI. But now she's safe with me

And I like to think her travels gave her voice some character.

Also, as the photo attests, this is RS184 from leap day 2/29/1984. My son named her Aslan.
