Default OO Deep Body needs a case........SUCCESS!

I picked up a Rimini guitar, OO-DB custom build, and needs a case worthy of it's build.....built by Phil Maynard, who studied under Dan Roberts, who studied under Richard Hoover.....I've had a couple of SC H-13's but never looked closely at the shape compared to this Rimini.....upper 10 1/4, waist 8 1/2, lower 14 3/4..........depth is where it's hard to find a fitting case.....upper 3 3/4, lower 4, but the waist is 4 1/4 deep......with that rocking motion with the body, difficult to match with over all depth in most cases, without being able to have one in hand.....with that curved bottom, how do I find a fit that keeps the neck in the neck rests without putting too much pressure on the body itself? I'm not familiar with dimensions of other OO-DB's, so if anyone has experience with the size of this OO-DB, I'd love to find a good case.....thanks

came with a TKL, which I believe is a standard OM, supposed to be 5 1/4 deep, but that hard foam sets down on the guitar with almost an inch left open at lower bout.....and of course, the OM has room to spare with the all around width......hope this makes sense....I did my usual research, took some notes, but maybe someone has some accurate hands on info.....

Have a look at the specs for a Hiscox Pro Classical LARGE...says depth of 4 1/2....

Triple check it first - my Cargill 00 deep body Lives in a Hiscox Pro Classical LARGE.

You may have to go custom, which is going to be a bit pricey. Calton did a custom case for my McAlister "C" model, but that was a long time ago. You might also try Armitage and Cedar Creek.

The body is deeper at the waist than it is at the upper and lower bout? Never heard of that one.

Hiscox are definitely worth looking into, as others say. Visesnut do an amazing case too. I have one and it fits my deep body 00 like a glove, partly due to the adjustable cushioning.

I purchased this case last fall, mail order from Elderly. It fits my deep body 00 well. Good luck.

thanks as always, gang....

BluesKing and Malcolm.....I'll be checking out Hiscox

Mycroft.....trust me on the specs, deeper in the middle....I've been checking on custom...sent Armitage all measurements 10 days ago...not a word back and can't even reach them on the phone.....(small potatoes I guess)

jguns.....I've been talking to Elderly about options...waiting on a Vintage to check specs....this Rimini build is certainly diff, but I believe that's what gives it the warm, woody, thick, bluesy tone that attracted me to it...

jcolins.....I'll check out the Visenut

Hopefully I can report a success story one of these days!

Ok so this is more of a low budget suggestion, but take your guitar to a local Yamaha dealer. That's how I found a case that would fit my LG2 which is also a very deep body 00 size guitar. A Hiscox case would be a lot better, but this is the @$100 option.

bunch more research.....still hard to find "final answer" without case and guitar in hand......I'm trying something and I'll know in about a week whether or not it's a winner.....I'll check back in with results then.....

Default Try a Cordoba Humicase

I purchased the Farida OT22 which is a deep body (4.25”) 00 /LG2 copy (great guitar btw). I bought Elderly’s deep body guitar case and was not a fan. Too much play in the hinges for me. Finding myself in the same position you’re in, I took some measurements and noticed the guitar was close to the size of my Cordoba 7 classical guitar, which I had a Humicase for. Tried it with the deep body and it fit, so ordered another classical Humicase and it worked well for me. Might work for you as well. Given how hard it is to find cases for deep body guitars, you might want to consider the Humicase by Cordoba. Very well made!

Took awhile but well worth the wait.......looked up everything listed above...
some too expensive, some customs didn't even get back to me.....the Hiscox seemed like the best shot....couldn't find used, and came close to getting a new one from Canada, but just couldn't pull the trigger at close to 600.....it was the Artist rather than the Pro, but it was all I could find as far as the Classical Large was concerned.......I was about ready to call it a day late one night but I tried one last google search and left it open to any Hiscox case......first one that popped up was Hiscox Classical PRO-II Large, mint condition, used from private party on Reverb......I'm thinkin' can't be, I'd been checkin' Reverb every day... gentleman had just listed it.....no return policy, but I figured I'm grabbing it anyway...even if it doesn't end up fitting, not much of a risk to own a Hiscox case for a couple hundred dollars.....it came yesterday and it's perfect..... a custom build from anyone couldn't be any better.....doesn't need the shape of the waist, etc, it's so snug it doesn't move a bit in any direction......big smile on my face, and a huge thank you to all who chimed in, and especially BluesKing777 and Malcolm Kindnes, and to AGF....this forum seems to always come through for me!

This might help! I purchased 2 of these high quality Guild Cases for the last 2 personal Custom Guitars I crafted. The body dimensions are so close to my guitars, I was kinda surprised when I read your post. My lower is 15 1/4” The upper is 10 3/8. And Depth at butt is 5” and neck block depth is 4”. I searched awhile for a deep case for these. These cases are stout. Xtra deep arched. Royal green pad lining and bunch of strong latches. I think I purchased them from sweet water. $150 each. maybe a little more. Under $200. I Bought one in 2018. And one in 2019. I believe they called the Guild Grand Concert case.
