Offset Sound Hole and K&K Install?

So I've been looking for an old Tacoma Chief (with the offset paisley sound hole) My thought was that I'd get one without the factory barn door pickup system and install a passive K&K. Then the light came on in my head and I realized that the location of the sound hole in the upper bout would be problematic.

Other than removing the back, is that installation possible? That design is quirky but those were really cool guitars, IMO. I owned a few Tacoma's back in the day and a picking buddy of mine had both the Chief and the Roadking. Those guitars made more than one traditionalist snob take note.
