Some great AI examples here, and I haven't spent any meaningful time with AI generators. But I did dabble with making some fun images that would mostly violate the forum rules, hahaha. I definitely consider this a form of art, just as I consider music sampling a form of art, when used to create something new. Others may disagree, and that's ok to have a different opinion.

Anyone can debate what art is or isn't. All I know is when I put some of these on my big Meural digital frame which is designed for art, it looks like art to me.

Some think it's art, some think it's not. Some like jazz, some don't. It's the way the humans are...

I am curious. When you put it on your frame, does the fact you really like it make it art? What makes it "look like art"? Is it because you like it? Is that what makes it art??? I sincerely want to know.

Not sure about the reference to jazz. The fact that some like it, some do not, has no relevance to whether it is music or not. I do not like classical music, but it is still music. Just because some may like Pollock, and some do not (that would be me) has no relevance to whether it is art, or not. Art to me is NOT just liking something.

In fact, art, like music, is an attempt to rise above whether someone likes it, or not.

Which is why I do not hold truck with the "I know what I like" definition of art, or music.

Like I said, I dislike Pollock quite a bit, but I can not deny it is art.

The images I've seen are too glossy, too perfect for me. I can like subtle, muted. I don't know if AI can do that. Yet.

Sure it can. Lots of folks just like to try and make photorealistic stuff, though. See my video in post 27 of this thread for dark, moody "paintings", or this one I just generated:

I prompted for a "pine forest at twilight, oil painting, desaturated colors, muted colors, 17th century painting" and said no "bright colors".
