Default Mountain luthier invitational

Yet another guitar show. This one was held in Burnsville N.C. Burnsville is a little town in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains and it is loaded with pickers and fiddlers of every description. As it turns out there are a lot of luthiers in the area as well.
Pics on the way

The venue just before the doors open

My table with my son waiting for lookers. The show was well attended but there were slack times

Random shots of interesting instruments

Nice banjo heel

Happy luthier couple

I'm not entirely sure what all the term "luthier" encompasses but this guy made some beautiful instruments

Really fancy resonator guitar

Dulcimers and fiddles made from cigar boxes etc. Interesting and light hearted table

This guy made really nice Mandolins of various sizes, plus one arch top guitar.

My little single 0 guitar getting a workout. It was rumored that this guitar was one of the best sounding guitars at the show regardless of size. (He reported immodestly)

Something I had never experienced at a guitar show before was spontaneous jam sessions near the end.

Khaki King did a concert for all concerned. The venue was packed

Next door to the venue was this brewery which closed the street Friday night to host a jam session.

Thanks for sharing John, it looks like a really fun event. Glad I got to play your current offerings at La Conner, all top notch as usual!

It was fun. That little single 0 really woke up between La Conner and this festival.

Looks like a great time and some beautiful instruments.

I see the "Beer" sign and local police...luthiers cutting loose, no doubt.

Very high quality instruments. Unique stuff too. One maker Dead Wood guitars had simple construction using down local timbers. They sounded good and the price was right

That looks like it was great fun - I'll bet that pub jam was epic! Was this the first time this has happened? Surprised I've never heard of it.

There were over three hundred people at the jam. The street was blocked off. This was the first year and for year one it was very well done.

Would have loved to check this out but had prior plans for the weekend. Definitely next year. Looks like fun.

It was a good time. These things can build momentum if done well. Thinking of other successful festivals, many are not held in particularly large towns, Woodstock and La Conner for example. But they seem to qualify as destination towns. Burnsville qualifies too, being in the heart of the blue ridge and near enough to a huge number of musicians. Banjo music?🤔

I had plans to attend and was looking forward to it with great anticipation, never having attended a luthiers show before. However, at the last minute a couple of glitches in life occurred, and I was unable to make it. I will attend next year if at all possible. Please tell us you are planning to have another one next year!

Great looking Show and place! I wish I had known about it but I was on a canoe trip with Burt Reynolds. We heard some Banjo though.

Chee, the organizer and producer of the show has committed for three years counting this one. So there will be at least 2 more

Yep the chatooga river is not far from here. The task, for me at least, is to wean these folks off dreads.
