Somebody once asked me how many guitars I'd owned in the past 50 years of playing. My head exploded trying to figure out if it was many hundreds or into four figures.

Anybody have any numbers?

Six (maybe 5; don't know if my Davison guitjo counts). I'm pretty immune to the frenzied buy/sell cycle many here succumb to.

I'm in my late 40s, been playing only 7 years. I think I'm in the low 20s in terms of total guitar ownership.

I seem to buy and never sell, I still have and play the very first guitar I bought in April of 1980.

I currently have 14, I was up to 15 but I gave one to my nephew, he had expressed interest in playing but sadly that was short lived.

Hundreds but I have absolutely no idea just how many hundreds. Bet guess if I'm not counting ones I've bought only to re-sell, I'd say 250. If I include ones I've bought to sell, it's well over 1000.

Maybe 30 total, with fourteen currently. That counts the square neck resonator and the electric LP copy that has not been out of its case in 11 years. Active guitars is maybe 6-7, with some in wall hangers as decoration. There are another 4-5 acoustics that need to be sold or donated.

I would have to guess but from 1970 to present, the number of guitars that I bought and sold would be about 15.
I currently have 4 Dreds, a baritone and a resonator.
Not looking for anything else. At least not seriously. LOL

I've been playing for forty-nine years. I'm up to having owned about twenty-eight at one point or another.

Life's too short (and my memory) to try and list all the guitars I've owned.

I started playing in 1964. Since then, I have owned 32 guitars (seeing this thread caused me to list and count) which include electric, acoustic and bass. I've only owned 14 amplifiers during that time.

I currently have 14 instruments (guitars and basses) of which two are for sale on consignment. And, I still have 3 amplifiers.

We outgrow things and our tastes change. It's not something I need or want to quantify.
