Paint them to look like carbon fiber.

This thread reminds me a bit of a Harley t-shirt that was popular a few years ago:

If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand.

I don't feel the need to defend carbon fiber... or any of my Taylors. I do chuckle at the Martin vs Taylor, wood vs carbon fiber threads. Try 'em... like 'em or not. But, really, are you going to listen to the advice of someone who has never tried the item in question? Isn't that a bit like asking for marriage advice from your bachelor friend?

Happy New Year!
Jim

Just a simple observation from a new member who has just jumped into the acoustic realm from the electric side -- these guitars are butt ugly!! If the aesthetics of wood are important, as I suspect they are to many, then cf guitars have a long way to go before they become popular. Now in the studio, if they can produce desirable tonalities that can't be produced by wood, they will gain traction fast. Oh, and they also have a sinister vibe to them, in total contrast to the warm inviting vibe of wood. Of course, if these ring your bell, then forget everything I just said.

What did that guy say? I once saw the devil in the grain of some Brazilian Rosewood. Maybe it was the lighting or the vibe?

Butt ugly? Why, I simply love the black carbon weave actually. In fact, my iPhone cover is also carbon-weave, and so is my multi purpose keychain...

Beauty, both sonically and visually is in the ear and eye of the beholder. I for one find beauty in many CF guitars

I wonder how some of the posters in this thread would have managed 100 or so years ago. `Those new fangled horse-less carriages just aren`t like the real thing....they`ll never catch on....

It interesting to me how there seems to be a dichotomy between how electric players and acoustic players view change in guitar design. With electric, there are some crazy looking designs that are accepted seemingly without much controversy. Put some strings and a pickup on a mop, sweet.

Acoustic? Not so much, acceptable design was locked in place a generation or more ago, stray a little away from the norm and feel the wrath. Even something as benign as the shape of the headstock seems to be a point of contention. Carbon fiber, well, that's a bit too far.

I saw a parallel to carbon fiber guitars when I saw a Babicz guitar and started reading about them. They seemed to of had a lot of unwarranted resistance because they were too different. Many seemed to dislike them out of hand with no first hand experience or had preconceived opinions.

I think that it's only one of the reasons, this resistance to change, cf is not widely accepted but it is real.

Yeah, just can't get over my attraction to the horse hide aesthetics. There's just no comparing horse hide gloss to the gloss of new fangled auto hood shine. And then there's just that desirable smell that you only get with a well fed horse.

I'll never leave my horse for one of 'dem der new auto things . . .

So some guy can insult CF owners, but when we come back at him, (in jest even) my post is deleted? Hummmm....nice.
