Apogee One recording...Seperate or same time?
Hi,
Im wanting to start making Youtube videos of fingerstyle acoustic. I want to know the best way to record. I have; Macbook Pro with iSight HD Apogee One Now I have recorded myself in Garageband and the sound is very good quality and I could record the video seperate and piece together in iMovie. Or...I could just record through the Quicktime player which will record both audio and video at the same time. So my question really is - what is the difference between these in terms of quality? And has anyone got any more advice on how to make the best video possible. Thanks for any help! Shaun |

it appears the one records one channel thru usb mic. so, you may want to record both video and sound at the same time in imovie. since the audio is thru the one(video thru isight), you can edit it in imovie, if need be. it is a decent program for being free! use the highest bit rate you can.
good luck!

Thanks for the advice.
With the isight, will the quality be the same through iMovie as it is through Quicktime recording wise as apparently the iSight is HD through Quicktime, im not sure if you can ge the same quality through iMovie? I was going to do it through GaragBand and do it sepprately but if there is no loss in audio quality this seems like it would be unnecessary...? Thanks, Shaun |

i believe it will be of the same quality. you may want to do some testing using each to see which you like best. my version of quicktime is 10.0 and it appears that it uses h264 compression. you can check yours thru file>new movie recording. then window>show movie inspector.
with imovie, you may want to check thru imovie>preferences>video. so, again, you may want to do a couple of test recordings using each to see if one has better quality than the other and, which software is easier for you to work with. note that in imovie, thru window menu you can edit the clip, the video and/or the audio thru separate adjustments to each. good luck! mikeB
