This 2017 Gibson custom shop J35 Vintage Collectors Edition is an incredibly light and responsive guitar. It will translate the most subtle playing, but has amazing headroom. It won’t fart out if you play it hard. The J35 model has the bracing of the advanced jumbo with Mahogany back and sides along with the shorter 24.75 scale of a J45. That translates to a more open bass response but with the fundamental note clarity and ease of play of a J45. This guitar records incredibly well. The neck and nut are larger than say a mid 60’s Gibson acoustic, but not the baseball bat size or deep V shape of earlier models.

The combination of a thermally aged top and hide glue used to secure the neck are part of the inspiring response this guitar has. It has a more broken in feel than most new guitars you will play.

My studio partner has one as well, otherwise I wouldn’t consider selling. We have a lot of acoustics and I’m trying to free up some space. I’m the original owner and purchased the guitar new from Wildwood Guitars.

Free shipping in Cont USA.

Gibson specs:

New Round-shoulder with a Vintage Voice

The Gibson Acoustic J-35 Vintage Collector's Edition puts the feel and tone of a perfectly aged 6-string in your hands, while still offering the peace of mind of a modern instrument. This round-shoulder acoustic guitar utilizes mahogany to support its thermally aged Adirondack spruce top. This treatment process bakes the wood to achieve a stiffer and more vibrant-sounding piece of wood. From the first time you pull it from its guitar case, you'll be mesmerized by the guitar's ability to conjure the tone of a well-aged vintage treasure.
Thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top

If you've ever had the opportunity to play a great vintage acoustic guitar, you know what a magical experience it can be. And if you've ever had a chance to strum a vintage Gibson acoustic, you know that experience is taken to a whole new level. Now you can get that same inspiring tone out of your new Gibson Acoustic J-35 Vintage Collector's Edition. Gibson thermally ages the Adirondack red spruce top on the instrument down to a cellular level. This ensures that when you strum your guitar, you'll be greeted with a voice only found on the truly classic vintage acoustic guitars.
Natural acoustic projection

From its initial concept, the designers at Gibson wanted the J-35 Vintage Collector's Edition to feature a unique combination of tonewoods, including mahogany back and sides topped by Adirondack spruce. The outcome was a classic full-bodied tone with a slightly different sonic result — a result that players of the new J-35 Vintage Collector's Edition agree is warm, resonant, and full. Paired with Gibson's scalloped bracing and short-scale neck, the J-35 Vintage Collector's Edition rewards you with an easy-playing feel and a phenomenal amount of natural acoustic projection.
Round-shoulder style for comfort

Descending from Gibson's classic J-45 acoustic guitar, round-shoulder dreadnoughts are steeped in Gibson tradition and lauded for their pure, rich tones and impressive volume. With smooth lines and a curvy shape, round-shoulder-style guitars invite a close relationship with their respective guitarists: their body shape makes these guitars easier to hold whether standing or sitting. The Gibson J-35 Vintage Collector's Edition brings all of these classic qualities together in a workhorse guitar.
