SOLD: Kevin Kopp Trailboss - 2017
Unfortunately selling my 2017 Kevin Kopp Trailboss. $sold. I will cover shipping, insurance, and paypal fees (conus only).
https://imgur.com/a/DEg90md Standard specs. Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides. 25.5 in. scale, 12 frets to the body. Jumbo cutaway. Medium C profile neck, waverly tuners, 1 3/4 nut and 2 1/4 saddle spacing. This is the best fingerstyle/fingerpicking guitar I've ever owned. If you play in open tunings, you are in for a treat. Honestly, I've never heard a better open D guitar in my life, it responds to your every move. There is a reason Leo Kottke owns 3 of these. It also seems to thrive as an accompaniment to a singer/songwriter. Sits well with the voice and doesn't take a lot of work to get what you want out of it. I was turned on to it by Darrell Scott's performance of Hopkinsville on the Fretboard Journal. It gives you the best idea of it as an all-around guitar. Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNsx_AJJpus I am the original owner and am selling because I have found I need the large traditional size neck and 2 5/16 spacing for my large hands (6'4"). I discovered this late in the build process of this guitar (this was ordered directly from Kevin - he has a year long wait list now) and it was too late to change things. I'm switching all my guitars to the large size setup, but I think most people would find the neck and setup extremely comfortable. It is the standard spacing and sizing he uses on all his instruments. There are 2 small imperfections, which I note for transparency and tried to capture in the last two photos. A very small finish chip near one of the tuning machines and 3 small surface impressions on the upperbout which don't go through the finish (done by a local shop during a setup- aaarghh!) They are both hardly noticeable beyond close inspection and other than that it is in excellent condition in every way. It is a very lightly used guitar and with his price increases it looks like these sell for over 5k new now. Comes with original hardshell case. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Visually, this is one of the most beautiful instruments you will lay eyes on. Not because of any bling - the finish, binding and sunburst are just classy. It's inspiring to hold in your hands. Thanks, hope it finds the right player! ...I'd prefer a straight sale, but on the off chance you have an OM-ish body type with a traditional 2 5/16 set-up for trade, PM me. Hopefully you already know of Darrell Scott, but if not, enjoy an evening youtube rabbithole of an incredible player, singer and writer. |

Oooohhhhhh. Yessssss
What a BOSS indeed.
Darrell's video worked for me. Sounds fine with the good cans on. I am up to my ears in super high quality 12 fret cutaways, but this is sure a nice piece! Sorry you need to sell! But I understand about needing the right neck... Best on this! Someone will love it Paul

The first time I met Darrell Scott was at a song writing workshop in Colorado. He had recently received his Trail Boss at that time and was loving it.

Cool guitar. If it had the slightly wider spacing I would own one,
Here's another video of a Trail Boss with different amplification of it being strummed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNxOLsTPQlk Sounds great to me. Mark |

You're a lucky man, Dave. That guy seems like a hidden treasure - well maybe hidden for a little while longer. Opening for Zac Brown band these days doesn't hurt his exposure.
Appreciate the replies Mark and Paul. The TB is pending and I'm so excited for the new owner. I'm very much considering putting the funds towards another to my new spec preferences. Or it may fund making the next record. All good stuff! |

I knew this one wouldn't last long. I looked for about 2 years on the used market and there were none to be had. It led me to my Froggy Jumbo with a cutaway. Glad this one is sold--now I can stop saying "what if I...."
