Default How Often do you Lose Guitar Accessories?

So, how often do you lose guitar accessories? What are some you've lost only to find them again days/weeks/months/years afterwards by accident?

I've found many picks while vacuuming my couch (removing the cushions) and underneath the couch.

What about you?

I'm good with not losing accessories, but I have a couple of good music books I can't find.

I have a good book of Pete Huttlinger's tunes which I would like to revisit and a notebook with a bunch of Mark Hanson arrangements in it. I've looked all over. I guess I'll try another pair of glasses and look again soon,

I tend to lose small tools - those little truss rod allen wrenches they supply with new guitars, jewelers tip screwdrivers, etc.

I have a place where they're supposed to be. It's a mystery to me why they're so often not there!

The only music-related losses are books I foolishly lent out. I don't do that anymore.

I may have left my elliott out of the case at the luthier's... his workshop
is nowhere near as organized as this one

I really don't have many - a few capos that I rarely use, a bottle of Dunlop 65 polish, and an old T shirt. I have a, pretty much complete, garage shop with just about every tool on the planet so there's lots of screwdrivers, wire cutters and allen wrenches available as needed. I have a small canvas tool bag that I carry to gigs for emergencies but have never needed it.

I mostly use thumb picks and don't think I've ever lost one and I always have a half dozen of the little Fender 358 heavy jazz picks in my pocket. I have enough of those to last for the rest of my natural life.

Anyone ever lose a pack of strings? I've never heard that but it must have happened a few times.

I was going to say , "Never", then remembered that I have 2 tuners. One had disappeared for a year or two - until for some reason I took the cushions off the couch....

lol! Did you actually find the tuner in the couch cushions? Did you also find some bits and pieces of chips and popcorn (like I have)?

I hardly ever lose them because I don't have much to lose. Like Skip, I have a huge roll-a-way tool box full of tools out in the garage so I don't have any guitar specific tools to lose. Picks sometimes I guess, but I don't use a special pick so they are considered consumables anyway.

Which brings me to another question along the same line, do people usually dig picks out of their guitars when they fall inside, or do they just get another one out and leave it? I do the latter. That way if I lose a pick somewhere and I don't have an extra I can just shake one out of the guitar and use it. It saves me from having to figure out where to store extra "just in case I lose one" picks.

I have multiple items that look exactly the same so it's difficult to tell which of them are lost at any particular time.

Rarely if ever - I wear out picks before I can lose them, and I still have Dunlop toggle capos that are 40+ years old (and still fully functional) in some of my cases...

Cables are the biggest things I lose. I have SO MANY it's hard to keep track of them all. I have gear at 4 different places (church #1, church #2, my mom's house and my car).

I'm the opposite. I buy strings then realize I still have a set or two in my cabinet where I keep that sort-of stuff. But I hate using the last one of anything. I always like to have a good store of consumables for all my hobbies.
