"I've looked everywhere it could possibly be." At this point I can hear my beloved father's slightly sardonic reply when I was a boy: "Then look where it couldn't possibly be!" Logic.

I've started going through the guitar cases a second time. I got up this morning at 5:30am and made another round.

Hehehe... Well I made it through the guitar cases, and yes, it was in the last one I checked. Isn't it always? But it was in the case for a Telecaster. The funny thing is that I don't use the capo on the Tele. Best I can figure it fell in there while I had a couple of guitars out.

Sheeeew...I feel much better now that I know the capo has been found. I was going to worry about this all weekend.

At least you didn't find it in the drying after you removed your pants!

Hah! Or in the bottom of a glass. One morning when the kids were still in the house I came downstairs to find my cell phone at the bottom of a glass of water. I had loaned it to one of my sons who came in at midnight and didn't want to wake anyone by turning on a light. His comment? "I thought it sounded funny when I dropped it on the table."

Professor Plum, in the music room, with the telecaster.

Mystery solved.

Or maybe after a couple of beers in?

I don't have a two-capo brain. I have a six-capo brain and that's gives me a shot at finding one about half the time.

Whenever I'm online buying something I don't need, like another pedal, I always add something inexpensive that I really don't need, like a capo or a clip-on tuner, or some strings. The result is of course that I have too many tuners and capos and strings, but I can't ever lose enough to have Bob's problem.

Since my daughter has taken up the guitar I've had to go on daily searches for my capo and my tuner. She has her own hand me downs but of course likes the Thalia and the Peterson much better than my cast offs. I broke down and bought her ones of her own. Still takes mine, but at least they're twice as easy to find.

I actually used my father's method. But I certainly was thankful that I found it!
