Default NGD: Gibson 1942 Banner J-45

Picked this up yesterday from my local independent shop who gave me a great deal on it.

Torrefied Adirondack top, Adirondack bracing w/hide glue, thinner finish, light as a feather. Looks, feels, and sounds like an old guitar right off the shelf. It didn't come with the "period correct" case, but Gibson is going to send it.

Is the neck profile full and round like a true vintage banner?

Congrats on the beautiful new guitar. My local enabler/dealer has one in stock and it is a terrific sounding guitar.

Enjoy!

Very nice. Love that period correct, narrow rectangular bridge .

These guitars are awesome! Best modern Gibson j45 I’ve played, by far. Such a pleasant surprise, this guitar. Turned out to be the one I can’t ever see letting go. Congratulations on yours.

About the case, is that the Gibson branded case with charcoal fuzzy interior and a slightly arched top reinforcement and cushioned handle, the one they were using in 2019? If so, that’s a way nicer case than the black ones with purple lining they’re using now, in my opinion.

Thanks.

That "period correct" case it was supposed to come with is this: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/03...g?v=1602638230

The case that came with the one I bought is this: https://www.gibson.com/Gear/Acoustic-Cases/ASDNCASE and it's a really tight fit for this guitar.

It's a chunky V.

Thank you. For weeks I avoided picking this one up off the shelf because of the price tag. Two days ago my curiosity got the best of me, and as soon as I played it I knew I was going to buy it.

Funny, the little bro is what turned me on to the 1942 Banners this year. A few weeks back I ordered a 50's LG-2 from Guitar Center and was shipped a 1942 Banner LG-2 (in the 50's LG-2 box) instead. It was a far superior guitar in my opinion, but at the time I wasn't prepared to pay that much for it and took it back.

Well, that was quite the error! Happy everything turned out well for you!

Best, scott
