Default I need your comments! D-28 vs HD-28

Hi everyone I have posted a YouTube video comparing these two Martin guitars for our livestream on Monday at 4pm EST. Would you please watch the video and leave a comment (on the YouTube video) with your thoughts? Thanks so much!

Sure would appeal to the chord bangers!

It's always going to be a personal thing.

I have both a D-28 and an HDC-28E, both with LR Baggs Anthem electronics, both are the newer "reimagined" versions. Most of the time I am strumming fairly aggressively. The HDC-28E is just way better sounding and has much more openness. This is even more apparent when plugged in. My D-28 sounds really good too, but the HDC-28E is something beyond, especially when you dig in.

I think the HD-28 sounded fuller in that video and I preferred it. The D-28 sounded drier.

I tend to prefer the HD-28 over the D-28 but in an ensemble that D-28 might be a better choice.

Comment added. I thought the HD-28 sounded better on everything but the flatpick bit.

A video won’t help you much unfortunately. There’s just too much inconsistency, IMO with these guitars. At best it’s a gamble to pick one or the other if you don’t plan on playing them in an A/B situation.

I think that you should have put a $200 Yamaha F310 into the mix to see if folks could actually spot the $2500 price difference!
