Woah! That was excellent - both his voice and guitar chops

Hopefully even those without Instagram can watch that. The part where he takes an instrumental break is just plain great.

Really nice guitars. I have a Smeck with a red spruce top on order from Iris. Really excited. Great guys over there.

That should be quite awesome! Glad to see another Minnesotan grabbing an Iris!

What was the upgrade cost for the red spruce top?

I got a deal on mine for doing a bunch of videos with the DF, but I talked to someone else who recently ordered a DF with red spruce and they said the upcharge was only $150. Not sure if that's always the price. Adam (Iris owner) owns his wood supplier Allied Lutherie, so maybe they can give a better deal on red spruce than other companies.

Nice! Depending on how this DF goes I may decide I need a relic'd red spruce topped version shortly after.

Visually it's not my cup of tea (is the headstock painted black?), and the sound is brighter than I prefer - but so what? Every guitar isn't for every player.

Enjoy your guitar.

I must say, I got this Iris DF two days ago and it's quickly becoming my favorite guitar. Such great tone!

Pics?

Also, if you're on Facebook, they just started an owners club. If you can't find it, let me know and I can add anyone.

Ah---nice. It's not always that easy to connect the dots ;-). I mean, your name is Jesse and so is the founder of that group....it's a pretty clear set of dots, but I ain't that bright lol.

Sorry to gush here... but I got this guitar two days ago and I expected it to be my singer-songwriter guitar and it's blowing me away. I've been playing bluegrass with it all night. It's got plenty of bite to flatpick with. It is in no way, shape, or form a dull slope shoulder that you might expect. I have a D28 Authentic Aged and this guitar doesn't lose much at all to the AA. Sure the AA is slightly louder and has deeper bass but if I had to sell it tomorrow and the DF was my only guitar I would be OK with that.
