Help me choose my new love? Guild F150CE or otherwise?
Greetings one and all! After a hiatus of several years, I want to pick up finger-style guitar again. I used to play quite a lot on a Tanglewood TSM 2 - it was a beauty. Grand auditorium, spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Big sound, especially with mediums on it. Sadly I had to sell it a few years ago, when times were particularly hard.
So, I don't think I should just get the same guitar again and have been seriously considering getting a jumbo. I hear that certain jumbos can be great for finger-style players, particularly for their bass response (I do a lot of alternating bass with a thumb pick). Problem is, some of the ones I really like the look of have a narrower neck than I'm accustomed to. The TSM 2 I used to play was 44.5mm. I'm particularly interested in Guild jumbos, but quite a few of them are 43mm. In an ideal world they'd still be making the Oprheum jumbos and I'd be able to get one of those, but the most interesting looking model is the F-150CE. I don't like cutaways, but it's the only option and it seems most people say there's not much of an effect on sound. Does anyone here own an F-150CE? If so, would you recommend. Or would you recommend any other guitars too? An example of me playing on the old TSM 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=youKnAir8hA Look forward to hearing your thoughts or suggestions!
