Default 13s on Yamaha FGX5

I was debating what strings to try next on my Yamaha FGX5. I went ahead with Martin 80/20 SP 13s. Didn't have to adjust the truss rod. They don't feel that much more difficult to play than 12s did. One thing I like is that they seem to intonate more accurately than 12s, especially when using a capo at higher frets. Just before putting it away, I strummed a full E chord. I gotta say, I just may stick with 13s on it from now on While I was at it, I put in some fancier bridge pins I had lying around.

I always love new string day.

I have a Red Label FG5 . I have tried Mediums, Medium Light , True Medium from a various brands. They all sounded good. Right now I have True Mediums from D"addario on it. 80/20's , 92/8 can't make it sound anything but good.

I have a Yamaha FG180 that I got used in 1972 and I've never used anything but 13's on it. Really showing it's age in the last decade but I still use the same strings - it does not seem fully awake with 12's. If you can play with 13's on the D size Yamaha - sounds like the way to go

What's stock on the FGX5? Mediums or lights? When I checked out a couple of sites (L&M, Sweetwater) it didn't give the gauge, only Elixir 80/20.

Thanks. If I get an FG5 I will try mediums on it to see if I prefer the tone.
