Before his passing, Stan from Mandolin Brothers had handed me one of the newer Sigma guitars. I don’t remember the model # but It was basically a D-28, but with laminate back and sides, and the price was around $400. So hear I am in a store that had guitars that sold for 5 digits or more and he handed me a sub $500 dolor guitar. It was the best sub 500 guitar I ever played. I was there dropping off a guitar for a pick up instillation. When I went to pick of the guitar I was contemplating getting the the Sigma, but. it was sold.

Everybody knows about the cult following the MIJ Yamaha red label guitars from the '60s have, but the real sleepers are the early '70s Taiwan built ones. I have several. The standout is a '72 FG-160 that I picked up for $80 that will hang right with my solid wood guitars.
