What am I pining for? Something that just blows me away with its sound. Enough so I step back and look at it in amazement.

I'm satisfied with what I have now - but only because I just ordered another guitar yesterday. Couple months from now, my eyes and ears will be wandering again. I spent 40 years with one guitar. Now that I'm retired and have some free time and spare change, I have a lot of catching up to do. I feel very fortunate to be here at a time when there are so many choices of nice guitars over such a wide range of prices.

There's none left ... looking at the beautiful guitars in your signature I'd say you already bought them all!

All of my guitar (and other instrument) needs are fulfilled, but fantasies are a different matter.

I actually think I have exactly what I want. I’d really like to add an OM-42 someday but I’m in no rush.

I need a grand auditorium. Maybe I’ll convince the wife to let me have a Taylor PS14ce.

I don't have a pic of all of them together, and I am in a current severe contraction position with four or five on the chopping block, but if the building were burning down I would grab my old Martin and be satisfied that the rest are essentially replaceable.

Don't care about guitars that much, and certainly not about collecting. I want some good sounds and I want to write a lot of good songs that survive me. Working on it.

I have surpassed mine. All I ever wanted was to be able to play the instrument that best enabled my musical goals. I've done that numerous times.

I'm really happy with what I have...but, I'm always ducking into guitar shops and picking up anything that interests me. So, there could be something in the future that I just have to have. However, I'm really a two guitar guy. One for the house and one for the classroom and camping.

Very fortunate to have what I have, and very happy with them. Similar to what Bluesking777 said, a custom-built instrument really helps to keep GAS at bay and this sweet Baranik 00 became mine last year:
I still get a buzz out of trying different guitars to see what different builders do and how it appeals to me, but no burning desire to fork out money if I find something nice. |

The only acoustic I would like to add to my guitars is one that was stolen back in my student days 1975. It is a 1972 sunburst Ibanez 754, which is an excellent reproduction of the Gibson Everly Brothers (J180). I enjoyed playing that guitar more than any other guitar I have owned over the years. The neck profile was perfect for MY hands, superb projection, great tonal balance all the way up the neck and a very full sound. I've been looking for another one ever since, but they are as rare as rocking horse droppings. If anyone knows of one for sale, please give me a heads up!

That is very beautiful! But what I mean about ordering a full custom acoustic to your specs is all the side things going on as well ......endless wait and a test of patience, nerves unbelievable, confidence in the whole plan wavering in and out, delivery day! And even though the luthier could walk past you in the supermarket, to you he is a brother, part of the family, an emotional attachment - he MADE you a guitar! Not you walking in and buying one at a shop, or clicking BUY, no, he MADE you a guitar! Special! The one you grab if the house is on fire.... BluesKing777. |

A funny thing about my fantasies: their horizon seems to recede as I approach it.
For the first 25 years of my guitar life, I had one playable guitar, and thought I was happy. Then in the mid-90’s, a great aunt left me $400 in her will, and I decided I was going to buy a better guitar...which I never bonded with. And the frequency of my playing seriously trailed off. About 9 years ago, I decided to carve out some time to take guitar lessons, and bought a very nice new guitar, which I loved. I thought I had fulfilled my fantasies. Them I bought another, and felt like a clam at high tide....for a couple of years. You probably see where this is going..... Today I have 8 guitars, 6 of which are better than anything I dreamt of having...until I decided I wanted them and was going to buy them. I play two or three of them on a given week...and I kind of push myself to make sure each one gets some playing time in a given two month period. And yet, I still see guitars for sale that I want to buy, that I fantasize would offer a different voice or a different feel or an upgraded wood combination, or something else that I don’t already have In my stable. |

Yes I have. I still like reading the classifieds, looking at online inventories and surfing Reverb, but that’s because I love guitars. I am completely happy with what I have in my care. My GAS is a thing of the past.
