I tried a set of the Newtone Master Class Double Wound Phosphor Bronze on my Guild F512 in January. I noted on the package that they had "Good Tone..... Worth the wait?" (referring to the 3 or 4 week elapsed delivery time).
I was not overly impressed with them on the Guild. But I can't say that I was sure about just what a "double wound" string was supposed to do. I liked them but wasn't really focusing on them all that much at the time. Also, I took them off prematurely and put a set of Elixirs on, so that when I loaned out the Guild to my boss, he could play the guitar for at least 60 days without having to deal with dead strings, since I didn't know their longevity. Also... in all fairness to them... I had just bought a new 12 string jumbo Taylor 358 2018 NAMM Limited Edition (Lutz spruce / Tasmanian Blackwood) a few weeks earlier which I was running through the paces at the same time. So... I may order them again and try them one more time, also on the Taylor 358 this time... and will plan on leaving them on the Guild for a longer time!
