After reading your comments, I realize that I do want to have a one higher-end instrument for gigging in higher-end venues and for recording. I do find that the Martin tone suits me and always feel good when I'm playing mine (excellent build quality at every level). I will look for a nice-sounding OM-28 and enjoy it. Hopefully, I'll be happy with it and not want more, but if I do, I'll make sure it's different from the rest. An Emerald carbon fiber maybe?
