The bevel binding does take off the edge on every contact point which I do like that. But I also love the multi dimensional look it gives especially in person. You bring up a good point about how each detail contributes as a whole and that really was my thought when I redesigned my guitars a few years ago. I do look at guitars as a whole and not just one particular detail.

The Sacha RW guitars that I've played from Bourgeois and Collings have been amazing... they didn't really sound like EIR at all, Tom's koa comparison is a lot closer. I heard sort of a super-mahogany, some more overtones but still quite woody and punchy.

This guitar looks AMAZING, btw. Excellent work!

I think it'll find a home quickly, Trevor.

Wow....beautiful!!

Sad that I missed getting to play that one!

Heading over to Tom's in a few days for some "blindfold testing".

Some of the most beautiful guitars you could lay your eyes on come from my old hometown!

Thanks everyone for the comments! This guitar was my first guitar I built for Trevor and it was a pleasure to build it for him. Building with the Sacha Rosewood was also a first for me. With the short time I had with it to evaluate the sound. I was surprised it didn't have more characteristics to a Mahogany or Koa due to how the wood felt in my hands while building with it. But it also didn't have the color of rosewood behind the notes. Very smooth, balanced, lush sound. I would say it really has a unique sound of its own that I would put in the camp between koa and a rosewood. It was very pleasing to my ear.

Tom, thanks for a great guitar.

I agree with you on the sound, here's my website entry.

"My first from Tom and more than ample proof of the reputation he has gained over recent years.

With bevelled bindings top an back it is a supremely comfortable guitar to play. Feeling so comfortable and at ease allows you to concentrate on playing and listening to its wonderful tone. It has a deep an sonorous, rich and mellow sound with great separation and definition, fantastic for letting each note contribute a full palate and blend with the next. A dream fingerstylists guitar.

And not to forget, fantastic workmanship and detailing (look at the back of the headstock), a work of art.
