Now that the fretboard is done, work can begin on the bird's beak neck. I imagine the guitar will be done 3-4 months from now?

It is nice to see a real birds beak bridle joint here in The AGF Custom Shop….

John had his demo bird’s beak joint with him at the Artisan Guitar Show last month. I have two guitars that have them. They change the way that I look at a Martin neck dart moving forward by understanding its structural roots.

Yes, it's a nice departure from the usual. I remember watching one of John's talks on that joint. It is not easy to pull off from what I understand.

Here is some sea creature exoskeleton grafted onto some endangered wood.

Of course!

There's more. John was stoked to get a perfect straight shot from the tip of the heel to the bird's beak. Such precision.

I've always thought the modern volute on a Martin-style neck, which, as you point out, is a vestige of the original construction methodology, is silly.

But back to our regularly scheduled programming: astonish craft, as always from Mr. Slobod.

Look at the ridiculous precision in that fretboard extension! Things are coming together quickly. And beautifully.

Sheesh! Check out the notched, grained ivoroid at the corner of the fretboard end. Ridiculously perfect.

More evidence that the "F" in the model name stands for too F-ing good for the customer who ordered the guitar.

Beyond cool, Juston.

This build demonstrates for the umpteenth time that John’s craftsmanship is second to none. Looking forward to more updates, amigo.

Hand cut veneers on headstock. Yum yum. Coming together quickly now!

Good old Waverly tuners will go in those holes!

True. Very true. I’m more deserving of the kind of guitar where the bridge is in the wrong spot or the strings pop out of the nut.
