Default Interested in a 1934/5 Acoustic Gibson ?

Just to say that I am sadly parting with my Gibson 16" F-hole archtop.

Please see the for sale "rest of the world" category for details.

Thanks,

ol Andy

Well, vicariously interested for sure.

What's the model?

Oh, I see; rest of the world. Never mind. I can make my way over there..

I could see myself gigging with a 30s 16" L4, and taking it to pub sessions, and campfire sessions - and having a lot of fun with it! Probably just having it as my only guitar. But I'd need to win the lottery first!!!

Good luck selling it Andy - I could stretch to two local lambs for your freezer and a packet of Welsh cakes for it - but I don't think that's what you are looking for!!!

There's an open "play with the house band" session this afternoon at the Magic Lantern, Tywyn this afternoon, so my 5th Avenue plywood archtop is going, and my dobro (I've not played that in years!). Your 30s Gibson L4 would be perfect!!!

I had the chance to play a 1929 L5 a while back--structurally pretty much the same as this L4 (though with a birch back)--and it was a stunning instrument. It also has a stunning pricetag. I don't suppose every 16-inch all-carved Gibson is going to be of that quality, though I did play a '34 L10 that was another knockout.

It's a 1934 build of the 1935 L-4, also sold as an L-7 from '35 on.

I ordered it from Archtop.com in Seattle, so no big issue about shipping abroad to the USA.

To whomsoever, I just realised that I made a typo.

The '35 L4 (f-hole) was renamed the L-7 shortly after. I mistakenly wrote L5. (nope!)

Robin, for as long as I can remember, my Welsh-born Mum (maiden name, Davies) made Welsh Cakes every holiday season in Canada and the United States, and now my wife, from Samoa, carries on the tradition for the family!
