Depending on the day, he makes me want to quit guitar or buy every single one he's playing. I've become a fan for sure.

Put me in that camp too. Carl is a phenomenal player. The man could make a bed pan with strings sound good? The folks at TNAG sure got the demo thing figured out. I have no idea what he charges but I'd wager he sells A LOT of guitars for them!

He has such a beautiful touch and I would love him to play this piece on my guitar. From quickly trying some of those arpeggios out I think that my guitar sounds mellower, richer and has a more bell like quality capo'd up at the 7th. Am I allowed to say that?

He's the one guy I'd love to hear my guitar in his hands.
Asked him after a review if he'd ever give lessons and he said: "I have too many bad habits!" So, the guy is humble, too. scott |

Yes! Just beautiful melodic playing...and you're so right martingitdave, "every note in it's place and no extras"

Not sure if Carl participates in online forums. Hopefully he gets to read some of the praise. It's nice to be appreciated.

TNAG has excellent players all round. I appreciate how Carl digs in just the right amount so the guitars are getting into the sweet spot of the tone, that filled out sound. You can get a better sense of what the instrument is.

He’s dangerous to the wallet. This video pushed me over the edge to order a Custom H-13 very similar to this one (only with the logo on a solid headstock) Once I get the guitar, I know I’ll sound just like this!

The first year I went to Winfield, I took a pre-festival workshop with Steve Kaufman. Carl Miner was one of the folks in the class. I'm gonna guess he was about 15-17 years old, but he was already pretty danged good. Seems like this was about 3-4 years before he won the flatpicking contest.

I want to play just like Carl Miner when I grow up. I've always gotten the feeling that Carl, "plays what he hears" in his head...and knows how to get the tone that he hears as well.

Carl Miner's sense of taste and melody is staggering. He NEVER runs out of amazing new music.

Entirely agree that Carl Miner's recordings for TNAG are pretty sensational. It is of course both the playing and the terrific recordings. These are, for me, by far the best sounding recordings on YouTube.
He does play great guitars, but unlike almost every other recording, he makes us understand why they are great guitars. While his playing flatters the instruments, I think he gives the best sense of what the instruments are and can be. Even the best of other recordings give just a rough approximation or hint at what these guitars can sound like. |

Carl Miner is an exceptional musician. Such tasteful playing and a real understanding of how to bring out the best in each instrument.
