Greatest accomplishment? Jeez, I dunno. For me, there hasn't been some great song or event I'd call a great accomplishment. It's been a ton of really tiny accomplishments over the course of a long time that have added up to what I can do today. I mean, if I take the most difficult thing I can play and show you the 1st 3 notes, you could master that in a day. Accomplishment. Next day I show you the next 3. Might take you 2 days this time, but you can now play the 1st 6 notes of the song. Another accomplishment. See where I'm heading?

For me it has to be breaking out of the open/cowboy chords, and learning different voicings up the neck. Not necessarily barre chords, but triads, and partials etc. just really opens up your horizons on the neck.
Honorable mention would be making solos more melodic, rather than staying sequential in the scales.

After mucking around off and on for decades, I finally buckled down and got serious. Learned a bunch of songs, and then got turned on to fingerstlye when I joined the AGF. Been at that about 3.5 years now, mostly country blues and rags. The first days, weeks, months were hard! So I'd say my biggest accomplishment was sticking with it, and knowing that I love it enough to continue to stick with it and play every day.

Omg. What guitar was that? I'm guessing it turned into expensive firewood? I like your name by the way.

i really don't recall (it was a long time ago) but not an expensive one....but we were hosting a party and somebody drunker than drunk knocked it over and broke/snapped the head stock, (if you look closely, you can see the break) so we decided to do what we did...i am thankful we took a few pics...

For me, it was getting to a point where I felt comfortable enough with my playing to start play in front of an audience. 11 years later, I am fortunate enough to play regular gigs.

I got to play at few relative's funerals which was a nice experience for me to be able to do something.
I also once played at a music festival where there were a few thousand people watching. I remember they hit the lights and it was people as far as I could see with glow sticks flying through the air. Then a drunken naked cowboy jumped on stage and started dancing. I saw him the next morning still naked but passed out on top of a picnic table. Still had his boots on, though. |

I’m extremely satisfied with my Continuing devotion to Playing fingerstyle Guitar and Bluegrass banjo. The thousands of hours I have spent learning fingerstyle songs, Travis patterns, and banjo rolls, have kept my 69 year old fingers nimble and my old mind sharp!
Now, where was I? Oh yeah, my mind is sharp! I think. Maybe. Well...... Blues |

Sticking it out for 44 years with no end in sight...except when I expire. I’m content being and remaining an intermediate player, ok singer and songwriter with incremental improvement along the way and hope for a much larger repertoire within my folk/rock/blues areas of musical interest.

Keeping good time. It’s been quite the journey. I have a good ear but had to work at good rhythm.
In particular, the definition of a great gig is when a couple spontaneously dances.

Mine was realizing that the terrible sound coming from the instrument could be improved by turning it over and playing the side with the strings. Fretting became considerably more difficult at the same time.

Just the fact that I keep at it, even when I'm sure I suck and the progress comes slow.
