Thanks John! I hope you know the feeling is mutual, and we always find ourselves challenged trying to keep up with builders like yourself.

That peghead inlay has me paying attention. Gonna be awesome.

Is the back plate Lignum Vitae?

Thanks Dennis, and no, no Lignum Vitae. I’ll show a better pic later of that back plate, but it’s not going to make it much easier on anyone.

January 12: Sometimes it’s easier to use animal skins than find good wood.

Wildly awesome Myrtle. At first I thought you had some bearclaw spruce that got some Matsuda gunpowder treatment!

Thanks guys. If anyone wants another chance at being the wood nerd for the day, here’s another look at the backplate for that headstock. Good luck.

Nice try Tom, but wrong side of the world. How’s that for a hint.

Very nice guess Louis! We have used a fair amount of Texas Ebony, and this looks a lot like it, but alas, you’re still incorrect.

Special, special prize for that one bro.
(I would have said 3 specials if you had not reversed two letters, and 4 if you had used the little curly cue under the "c".)
