Default Loggerenguitars (Amateur)

Hi everyone, I'm trying to share some builds I've been doing in the past few years, for the first time.

I've been learning a lot from you folks here and keep getting inspiration here!

I'm going to try and upload some pics and holding thumbs that it works!!

Resonator guitar I made in 2014. All Kiaat (Local South African timber).

Here's my first ever acoustic guitar build - Small Jumbo; All sapele:

Ok, it seems like I can upload images successfully!

Let me give a little more background and few more pics(Please excuse the poor quality of some), if you masters here won't mind!?!

It's more that 10 years ago that I've started my luthier research, but not that much into guitars as mandolins and ukulele's. I've played mostly guitar since I was 14 but had no idea why some guitars sound better than others till I had my first experience of a high-end guitar about 6 years ago...'so why would I bother trying to build a guitar that would not sound better to any relatively cheap guitars..' I thought, knowing it would me impossible to own a high-end acoustic guitar!!

But my curiosity was hooked...and so the first acoustic guitar came about
It was more than I ever expected...

So here my journey continues...

But before that, I made a few ukes:

All-Zebra with Rhodesian teak fretboard and bridge.

These Leaf Tenor ukes was made from Kiaat (African timber), Indian rosewood fretboards and bridges.

Default Second Acoustic D-28 Style

The resonator guitar was the second guitar I ever build and was one of those I just had to have!

But my 2# acoustic build (making it may 3rd guitar build) came as a big surprise, I will cherish as long as I live: D-28 Style!!

I must tell this story!
I happened to meet a very nice guy here in my city that has been on the guitar building journey a while, a collector and fantastic guitarist!

He showed me some of his work in progress and his collections, and I was blown away! I knew then I had to do things right!

As we chatted, I mentioned to him that my dream was to own a D-28 or something with the same specs...the next minute I saw him packing out pieces of wood and said: "There you go...build yourself one!"

You guys can just imagine how I felt!!!

I will load the building process soon...

As promised, here are some process pics!

As you can see some of the parts(Back, sides tail/neck blocks, bridge) was from a kit.

Specs
Top/braces: Sitka
Back/sides: Indian rosewood
Bridge/fretboard/binding/head plate: Ebony
Back/bottom strip: Zebra wood
Neck: Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the neck building process, but it was made from mahogany, which I stained and darkened the heal area to blend with the back and sides.
Finish: Nitro cellulose

You must be a quick learner because that's some seriously clean work on the dread. That gives me something to look up to.
