Default Support in tracking Guild D55 serial number

D55 purchased new in February 1999. In searching the Guild registry of serial numbers for the D55 in the 1997-1999 slot it lists serial numbers AD550413-AD550691. Problem is that my D55's serial number is AD551044. I always assumed my instrument to be 1998 model since it was bought in early 1999. Any insight into this is appreciated. Thx!

I’d try the Guild forum (let’s talk guild). The guy wrote the book on the company is an active member, and may even be able to tell you what month it was produced. I’ve heard there are errors in some of the dating charts available. If you look inside the soundhole, on one of the beveled edges is an ink stamped date, that will give you an approximate idea (though I don’t know for sure if it’s when the body is completed), usually depending on the model, it can be something like 6 months prior.

If this is the chart of Guild serial numbers that you looked at, you will see for 1997 -1999 they only list the serial numbers for 1997. The numbers for 1997 are as you quoted AD550413 - AD550691.

Your D-55 with serial number AD551044 is probably a 1998 or very early 1999.

I have a Guild D-30 from this same period with serial number AD301873 which was probably manufactured during that same missing 1998 - 1999 period or some time after that.

What are the Westerly serial numbers after 1997? They moved to Corona, California in 2001.

Pictures of your guitar could help identify the year. Gary at GAD.net has painstakingly digitized a number of old catalogs and flyers. Check hear to compare yours: https://www.gad.net/Blog/guild-guitar-catalogs/

Also sometimes there is a date stamped inside up around the neck block area.
