Indeed, Anton! Well said.

And I'm sure you won't be able to refrain indefinitely from restoring a McIlroy to a rightful place in your home.

You have, through your perspicacity, achieved "honorary" status in the CoM. Feel free to send out announcement letters to all your family and friends, who surely will want to celebrate this achievement with you.

Many thanks for the welcome DrDavid, i'm honoured to be a member of such an exclusive cult. And thanks chaps for sharing some beautiful pic's. Malcolm that must be the dream ticket, anything needs adjusting and you just pop up to see Dermot to have it seen to, boy if anyone knows those guitars that guy will.

Ah! T&T, with that deceptively simple statement you have opened the doors to membership for yourself in the notorious CoM.

It shall be wise not to speak too openly about this, lest others suffer unduly from envy at your existential elevation!

Welcome aboard.

Beautiful guitar. Sigh. Everytime I look, listen, or think about a McIlroy I'm smitten -- ever since reading about them on at the Shoreline Music web site. Can I join the CoM as a honorary member?

Absolutely, Danny. [See updated CoM membership roster, above.]

Your admiration is well placed.

And best wishes on soon becoming a McIlroy owner, which will rocket you to full scale CoM membership status.

By the way, you might regularly check the McIlroy offerings at the Paramount Guitars website. Occasionally Kenn will have a used one at a great price.

I've got an A25 and an A30c, but I don't know what a tartan is. If it's not contagious, you may add me to the list.

As a reply to the question before the thread took off, I would say that the A30, being a spruce top model, is more stiff, but quite loud if flatpicked, while the A25 is more responsive and full, and thus better suited for fingerstyle. It sings like no other guitar I know all the way up the neck when flatpicked, though. Strumming might be too much, although while the A25 has a complex tone, it is still very defined.
Well, nuff said, just try them out yourself! ;-)

I have never played an A 35, but would be interested in the tonal differences between an A25 and an A35. Maybe Rolli knows more about that?

And then there are the new P-models (AP and ASP), which are 1 cm smaller. The A models have quite a bit of bass (especially the A25 can sound a ittle too warm for certain tunes), so the P-models might be worth checking out.

I do love my Lowden O10 and S23, too.

Hi rumi,

Welcome aboard, absolutely.

You will surely understand that the CoM Constitution warns explicitly against accepting Swiss natives for membership (the whole unfamiliarity with tartans thing, you know), but in your case we're delighted to make an exception.

I will need to ask the Board for a formal vote, but I'm pretty sure that the only entrance requirement for you will be to donate that lovely A30c of yours "to the benefit of the CoM".

Really, that's a very small price to pay for the sublime privilege of full CoM membership!

Default New AS30c

Hi all - I guess it's time for me to jump in with my first post. I became a very proud McIlroy owner last week with the purchase of an AS30c. It is an unbelievable instrument - magnificent craftsmanship, outrageous tone -everything I expected and more. My one frustration is that the hot and humid weather here in northern Vermont does not lend itself to comfortable guitar playing. Today is perfect though, so we're gonna get to know one another - can't wait!
I know that pics are expected, and I'll comply as soon as my daughter-in-law visits with her digital camera. I hope this can serve as my ofiicial application for CoM membership; thanks!

Once again I haven't read the small print...

Switzerland thanks you for being so polite. We're not all bankers, you know ;-)

Let me meditate a bit about the second part - in fact it's time to edit my sig - the A30c stays, at least for now.

Hello Jim,

Welcome to AGF on your first post.

And a magnificent one it is, indeed! A sweet AS30c. Wow.

Yes, photos are obligatory.

And, even in the interim, your elevation to CoM membership is automatic. What, truly, could be a better welcome??

[On a geographic note, not only are you NOT a Swiss native, but you seem to hail from some near-Arctic region inhabited mainly by moose and maple trees? North, as in north of Stowe?]

That makes the updated CoM roster as follows:

Dave R
deemcilroy (!)
deepnback
dmcginnis
DrDavid
Feste
floatingears
GibsonGuy
jackholexxxx
jeff.willner
JiminVT
kirkham13
Kurt
Malcolm Kindnes

Anton (honorary)
Billv (honorary)
CoffeeGuitar (honorary)
Danny Klass (honorary)
Loki (honorary)
Markart (honorary)
martinedwards (honorary)
Rick Jones (honorary)
Simon Fay (honorary)

"Honorary" means a great admirer of McIlroys, but not (yet) a current owner.

And you did manage to beat some pretty good Iberian team during the recent World Cup, or was that a mass hallucination?
