Anyone try Silk and phosphor strings
I have a little inexpensive Ibanez Parlor guitar for noodling around with on the couch. I currently have a set of Dadarrio PB lights on it and it sounds ok for what it is. Good projection for such a little body. Mid range dominate and not much base as to be expected. I was wondering if anyone has tried a set of Phosphor Bronze and Silk strings ( not to be confused with silk and STEEL) and what your impressions are.?

Like them a LOT.
They're a lot different than Silk and Steel. They sound like a "played in" set of bronze strings, and they're a little lighter tension. Worth a try, for sure. |

I've tried them on three guitars:
Larrivee SD-40 = ok Taylor 324 blackwood = meh Webber Cedar/EIR OM = meh A lot of folks love them, though. |

I've tried JP Silk & Bronze, Newtone Masterclass Double wound, and have GHS Silk & Bronze on my RainSong right now. I love them and Martin Retros for fingerstyle work.

I use 11's and have pretty much settled on Elixir Nano CLight 80/20's on my stage guitar. But I went through a string experiment phase and tried a bunch of the PhosSilks amongst others.
Earthwoods...so so. did not move me. JPearse, not bad, pretty close to PhBronze in feel and sound Used these for a while and liked them. Martin FX, nice light feel and crisp sound. And.. if you're feeling spendy.. Thomastic Plectrums. lovely... but ..****. They aint cheap. All worth a try. Kris

I like the sound and feel of the John Pearse PHosphor Bronze and Silk wound Light gauge on my Santa Cruz model H. I'm thinking of trying the Light/mediums and see if I still like the feel of them. Another benefit I've had with the light gauge is that they hardly squeak.

I have them on a Martin Dreadnought Jr and Taylor 114 e
Love them, might have to adjust truss rod. I did not have to. Sound warm, easy to finger. |

1st time Silk & Bronze user - these have surprised me - more volume than Silk & Steels - feel more like PB's - perfect on this guitar.
