Default Mystery Arch Top - Maybe Recording King?

the slender waist has my thinking recording king, however the F holes don't look right.

curious if anyone is familiar with this.

Yes, Regal.

The segmented F holes are unique to this Chicago maker. I'm working on a 1930's Regal made, archtop model right now (it's a Slingerland), it has a really resonant archtop tap tone. Looks like this:

1930s Regal Slingerland.jpg

The neck was loose in the pocket when I got it, so I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Oddly, the Regal factory rounded over the dovetail pocket front edge. You could see the machine tool marks from the tool bit. This factory build mistake weakened the neck joint significantly and the neck broke loose from the neck block. Major build screw-up.

I spent a few weeks thinking about how to fix this factory flub, and then settled on hand carving out the pocket dovetail sides and epoxying in a set of matching mahogany wedge blocks. So far so good. However, she still needs a lot of work; the neck has a serious amount of back-bow, and I'm considering the full Monty on this one with removal of the fretboard and a truss-rod install .

Concur with Regal. I have an old National Electric Spanish guitar with a Regal-built body that has the same segmented f holes and headstock shape. (Sorry, no pictures handy right now.)

The headstock looks Harmony-made. Could it be a Supertone?

EDIT: This is the identical guitar; a 1937 Supertone carved solid spruce top. That's a special girl right there!

How does she sound?
