Default UPS Oops

Just got an email from UPS saying my Amicus will be delivered tomorrow, 6/24. It gives a timeframe, and alternatives for if I’m not going to be around. Yay!

Then I check the UPS app. It says that delivery has been delayed until Friday, 6/25, and shows the package bouncing around in Dublin.

I’m not placing a bet on either date

Well, it’s now in Köln. Still seems a bit of a stretch that it will show up in Minnesota tomorrow, but Friday is eminently possible.

I bet you’re glad I’m sharing all this with you, aren’t you?

It'll probably be in Louisville tomorrow where it should immediately clear customs then rocket up to the final hub near you. I hope you clear as fast as mine did.

Maybe you go to a different us clearing location, but good luck anyway. App tracking said mine left Koln at 9:30 pm and delivered the next day in TX at 1pm. Super impressive last sprint.

So you’re saying there’s hope?

Seriously, Friday will be fine. That will be two months exactly from order to delivery.

But tomorrow would be even better.

Not sure why it would affect this, as Ireland wasn’t involved. Much more likely related to the global supply chain and transportation disruptions caused by That Which Shall Not Be Mentioned Here.

I hate to sound cynical but I believe the major shippers as of late are using covid as an excuse for delayed shipping and a way to gouge us. Last year I could understand it but now... no.

‘Gouge’ would imply that it’s being done deliberately to make more money. I don’t see how that applies to delayed shipments and erratic tracking information.

I meant delayed shipping AND gouging.

UPS before I stopped using them was charging a covid fee, rural surcharge, fuel surcharge, residential business surcharge, and another fee which I don't recall at the moment.

Same happened with both of my X20s. First tracking said delivery would be in a day or two, then tracking showed it still in Ireland. Both times it took a week, with no additional fees.

This is how my X30 delivery went. The date was a moving target. The good news is, it will eventually get there. Good luck!
