Default Quackbuster with Lr Baggs Element?

Has anyone had experience with the PUTW quackbuster? preferably with the Lr Baggs Element Active system (under saddle pickup) that came stock with my Gibson J-45? Also how easy is it for a newbie in terms of installation. I have experience with a lot of electronics and circuits just not pickups (i'm a bioelectrical engineering major). I'm just trying to decide whether i should just switch out the pickup entirely or salvage it with a quackbuster. I just love the more natural sounds of the iBeam and the PUTW pickups.

You could leave the Element in there and slap an iBeam in the guitar too! Those are easy to install. Have it soldered to the ring and ground on your jack and use an LR Baggs MixPro or a PUTW Stereo Power Plug to blend the two.

I think I've read of folks here using the quackbuster with the Element so hopefully you can get some help on that. But the dual source was the first thing that popped into my head.

according to LR Baggs, either a mini-mic or mag pickup can be added
to the Element - a high impedence pickup, such as the iBeam cannot
(6. other applications - passive auxiliary channel)
http://www.lrbaggs.com/manuals/eleme...ive_manual.pdf

i'm not sure if it makes a difference if an Element were to be added to
the iBeam (both of them work in the iMix, so it might be in the pre-amp)

i've heard of people using the quackbuster with a piezo UST,
which reduced the output by a rather significant amount

Oops! Sorry! I just assumed you could pair them because of the iMix. I should have done my homework!

Thanks,
Matt

does a quackbuster improve natural sound quality improvement or does it only affect the amount of quack?

I have one with my Fishman matrix. I really had to play around with the position because it was too dominant for my tastes and had a midrangy honk and too much handling noise. Luckily I had an on/off switch installed because recently I was getting a bad hum when I plugged in. I was able to get rid of the hum when I turned it off. Most likely a bad solder joint when I installed it. It was an interesting experiment, but I think I prefer the matrix better by itself and doubt I will bother to try and track down the problem and leave it like it is. I guess what I'm saying is if you like the basic sound of the Element, a PUTW might improve it but if you don't than I doubt you will like it much better. It's a spice not a main course. BUt then I again, I don't much care for the sound of soundboard transducers anyway so take what I say with a grain of salt.
