Liffey Waters [Original] Writer’s Block Unjammed
Firstly, I have gone through a lot of (positive) changes at work and this has prevented me from enjoying and commenting in here, my favourite forum on this site and probably th web, so for that I really do apologise.
Secondly I have had the worst writer’s block in terms of songwriting for the last while after going through a nice purple patch. I have been trying to unblock myself the last few months. I’ve got quite a few decent starts in musical terms, but nothing written to a finish. Finally I sat back down and ground this one out, after starting it last year. it’s a ballad I guess, in the modern Irish folk style. My thanks in particular to Neil (foxo) for taking a listen and listening to my frustrations. The Liffey is the river that flows through Dublin. That’s all you need to know and thank you for listening. Personally I like bits of this and I hate other bits but I am so happy/relieved to have gotten a song out that I’ll just take it for what it is. The guitar is my McNally Dread, played with a thumb pick, tuned to drop D capo on 2 and I recorded one take into a zoom recorder before adding a little comp/reverb in GarageBand on an iPad.
