Default Martin D15S

I found a used '07 D15S 12 fretter a couple weeks ago. It's a nice guitar, big round, sweet, warm tone. It's not as sophisticated as my old Collings DS1 or Martin D18VS, but I wouldn't expect it to be.

It plays great. The neck is a "low oval" and 1 3/4" at the nut. I am okay with the profile, but I wish it was a little fuller. It certainly works better for me than the Martin MLO with PA Taper.

It's really a sweetheart, but I keep wondering what this would be like as a Custom Shop short scale with a "full thickness" neck profile. Have any of you played a Martin 12 fret dread in short scale? I have never seen or heard of one.

Thanks for posting this. I never heard of a D15S. How about a couple of pics?

I think that Martin has made a limited edition version of a short scale dreadnought. It wasn’t something I was looking for at the time so I don’t know the model name or any of the details, but hopefully someone will know and chime in on this thread.

Thanks, Wade.

I am thinking of a short scale, Martin 12 fretter as sort of a Roy Smeck. I have played a couple of the short scale D18's, and they are nice. I still haven't seen a short scale Martin 12 fret dreadnought.

lowrider: I can't post pictures, but here is a link to the one I just bought.

Nice looking guitar! I have been considering buying one of these from LaGuitarSales. If you decide you can't get along with the neck, send me a PM. I might be interested in taking this one off of your hands.

Pretty much sums up the reasons I love mine - one of the very few 1-3/4" necks I can actually play for any length of time BTW - and it's my go-to coffeehouse guitar if I'm doing the old-school guitar-miking thing rather than plugging in direct-to-house...

Use it well and often...

Thanks, Steve. The D15S is a total sweetheart, just like the 00015S.
