Default Waimea Lullaby - Slack Key Jam

Led Kaapana and his wife stayed a couple of days with us before heading out on their national tour and we finally captured a version of "Waimea Lullaby." Led recorded this as an instrumental on his "Ki Ho`alu - Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar" CD, which is out of print and being offered used at over $30 on Amazon.

Wonderful playing Fran. You and Led sound great together. Listening really put me on the mood for my trip to Maui in a few weeks. Any recommendations on where to hear some good slack key guitar on the island (other than the Napili Kai)?

Best of your duets yet. Very pretty and I especially like the G chord to A7 chord shift (very effective). Also played very tightly in synch with each other.

My only recommendation is to look around for Kevin Brown and/or Ola Hou, his band. They've had various recurring gigs around Wailuku and the stuff I've seen has been lovely. The Napili Kai show will be somewhat different from usual since George Kahumoku is on the road with Ledward and Richard Ho`opi`i. Maybe Keoki, George's son, will host, I'm not sure.

Thanks to all the rest for your kind comments. It's definitely fun weaving through a song with Ledward, never the same road twice (grin).

Fran

Fantastic performance! Listening to it brought back memories of a April day in 1978 when my family picnicked at Waiamea Falls.

Sweet - I've watched videos of Fran and Led individually, and now together! These slack key duets seem like mystery to me. Can't wait to try it someday.
