Default I Took the Plunge

I’ve been frequenting a lot of the music based MeetUp groups near and around central NJ these last two year. Mostly acoustic guitar jams and open mics with a couple electric blues jams thrown in for good measure. I get great enjoyment out of these, as well as meeting terrific like minded people in the communities where they are held.

So, I took the logical next step and became a moderator/host of my own MeetUp group in my own hometown. The Old Bridge Musicians Collaborative! I’m looking for that big band sound and mix of talent in horns, strings and a core five piece rhythm section. Think Cab Calloway or Brian Setzer!

Tonight is my inaugural launch. I have a beautiful rehearsal space booked at a local music studio with twelve members committed to joining me.
I’ll let you know how it shakes out.

That is very cool, Chickee! I hope all goes well for you! I'll be interested in hearing how this all works out. I really enjoy Brian Setzer big band stuff!

I couldn’t get a horn section to commit to this MeetUp event, but was surrounded by wonderful local musicians wanting nothing more than to make some good live music.
Harmonies came surprisingly good, for a first outing with all new friends!
The studio owner was terrific and supportive of the group.
All in all this was a lot of fun.
