Coulda Woulda Shoulda
I had two guitars that I sold and wished I had kept. 1973 Les Paul Custom, 2000 Taylor 414ce. I can't even remember what happened to my first electric...a Danelectro, but it would be fun to feel that in my hands again. I could've kept them, I would've kept them, I should've kept them, but I still feel incredibly fortunate to have what I have!
Any other lamenters out there? LarryK

Some of the worst mistakes I have made were trading off or selling guitars. Admiteedly though there was a long peiord where it was the only way I could have afforded something else. Heading the regret list is a 1956 Gibson SJ, It went for a 1946 LG2 which in turn went for a 1942 J50.

My older brother moved out of the country so I sold the old guitar that he left at my house. Years later I realized I sold an old Gibson Les Paul Custom for $300. I would love to have that one back.

In college I sold off a beautiful Rickenbacker electric, because I believed I needed the cash. Definitely a regret.

I've bought every guitar I've ever wanted. The problem is that I've bought every guitar I've ever wanted but I don't regret letting any of them go for the next one that catches my ear and eye!

I recently had the chance to bring “the one that got away” back home. And I jumped on it.
Here’s the thread about the homecoming... https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=563135

Two stand out as regrettable: a 1999 Santa Cruz OM/PW and a 2010 Gibson 50s Les Paul Tribute Goldtop. Both fine guitars that I really had no business selling.

Ahhh...nothing like reminiscing on the terrible decisions I’ve made. How long do we have lolol.
Definitely had a few that still hurt. Here are the most notable... Acoustic 1. Santa Cruz 000-Norman Blake #5 of 10 2. 90’s Taylor 815C with Florentine Cutaway 3. Gibson J-100 Xtra with the most beautiful flame maple back I’d ever seen. Not to mention the mustache bridge. 4. Langejans with Zero Fret. Can’t remember the model for the life of me. 5. 2 Gibson J-165’s (one sunburst, one natural). 6. 2 OM/PW’s 7. Larrivee OM-05e There were more acoustics. But those are what come to mind immediately. Electric’s 1. 62 Gibson SG. Traded a bartender I worked with a $100 watch for it. Then traded it for some Ibanez “shredder” 2. PRS CE24 3. Gretsch G5620T-CB in black. (*Cool story on it. I bought a demo from Sweetwater. It arrived damaged with the entire lower bout crushed. They sent me a brand new on at the demo price. I loved it. Loved it! Got G.A.S. And traded it to a fellow forum member. Missed it and regretted that decision almost immediately. Saw he had listed it for sale here, traded him another guitar I had and got it back. It’s seriously shaped my tonal preferences to the point that I bought an identical one in Red, and a 5622T-CB in Green). 4. Baja Tele with blackguard. 5. Japanese E Series Strat

1990s Fender American Standard Telecaster in 3 tone sunburst. It was my first good guitar. But honestly, if I still had it, it would be sitting in the closet unused. I'm not interested in playing electric guitar anymore.

One comes to mind. A '72 Fender Telecaster with a rosewood neck that I bought back in the seventies. It had the best feeling neck I have ever played.
