Default Irish Music

Anyone listen to Irish music? I've found some great mixes on YouTube which is a mix between Irish traditional and a genre called Irish 'punk' (I think that's what they call it).

Dropkick Murphys, Irish Descendants, Flogging Molly, The O'Reillys and the Paddyhats. Some great stuff. So, this isn't just traditional music but also a modern take on it.

Hello Dru

If you are going into that pool to swim, check out the Pogues. These are the guys who may be the first to put an Irish slant on Punk.

Thanks guys, will do. I've heard of the Pogues years ago but never gave them a listen.

Rumjacks - another one on the playlist.

For me the best Pogues album is definitely the first, Red Roses for Me.
I ran across this 2CD set in a thrift store recently, and it was an excellent purchase: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Iris...elease/5117885

Steve Earle did a collaboration with The Pogues on the song Johnny Come Lately that was on his Copperhead Road album. Kind of an odd pairing but it worked out quite well.

Here's The Pogues doing the song in concert (definitely also check out Steve's version):
