Julian Lage: Twelve Observations About The Guitar

I am a very big fan of Julian Lage, both his playing and his musical philosophy. I just found this today, it is a great read and offers very interesting exercises.

I'm going to start doing exercise #4. Recording 10 one minute improv sessions over the course of a week, and not listening to any until the end of the week. For Lage, it made him realize he is worth his own time, and although we all spend the majority of our time listening to our favorite musicians, there is something liberating about finally permitting one to listen to himself with the same respect that he innately gives to others.

This deeply resonated with me and am hoping it helps to solve some sort of roadblock I've mentally developed over my playing days.

I read this earlier today and enjoyed it a lot. Lage is a fine musician; I love the gentle affection and attention with which he plays the guitar. Thanks for sharing this.
