Default The Five Levels of Guitar - with a blindfolded solo

Hello Guitar Friends,

Five easy(ish) steps to play the guitar from a short beginner bass line to a more complex full fingerpicking song (Hit The Road Jack) with a solo, finally blindfolded. I hope you’ll have as much fun watching this video as I had shooting it.

Best,

Tom

Hi Tom, great video! Well done, and your enthusiasm shows through which is always a big plus when teaching or performing.

I totally agree with what you say about "perceiving" solos without looking, as I realised a while ago, I mostly close my eyes when taking a solo break, ans "see the notes in my head but in a way I find impossible to describe.

I now suggest to my students to practice chord progressions in the dark to develop "muscle memory" rather than a visual memory. (already subbed!)

Really fun video, Tom. Thanks for posting!
The way you built from the bass line was quite instructive--gave me a better sense of the whole once you played all the parts together. And blindfold is useful for listening as well as playing!

I feel honored, thank you, Andy! It is also very interesting that how light affects sound. I have a memory from ten years ago. I was sitting in a set for a video and the my friend the cameraman was setting the lights. I remember playing a sound when he made the whole setting much darker and my sense of that chord instantly changed. It sounded totally different, but nothing changed acoustically. Our brain is interesting. It would be good fun to make a feature video somehow if you would be up to it.
Best,
Tom

Well, all I can say is WOW. One the best, and most enjoyable guitar performances, I have ever seen. Reminiscent of Tommy E. In a live show, the audience would be blown away. Bravissimo.

Hi Tom,
I don't know how I missed it, but I always thought I had pushed the subscribe button on your channel, I finally did it!
Love your 5-levels video.
I might be at level 3, and not as good as your level 3.
Thanks for this recording. Very inspiring and educational.
Rene

That was really well done and really fun, Tom!

Great job on this, and well presented! And that Furch Orange is a good sounding guitar!
