Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle - Another Little Show-and-Tell
This morning I strung up my latest, an Arena (my OMish size) made with German spruce and Tasmanian tiger myrtle. Here's a link to a gallery I posted on my site...

Beautiful guitar, Matt! What a nice wood. Love the bevel contrast and the interplay with the binding. Cool. You also pick such a nice background for your photos. Is that lavender behind you?

Thanks for the compliments...I don't have any soundclips...perhaps I should get around to that. Hmmm....
Steve and Tim, yeah...I'm down 80 pounds. For nine years I had a nerve impingement that produced some pretty heavy-duty back pain, and then it rather suddenly went away. You don't often hear of that kind of outcome with chronic back pain, so I'm unbelievably lucky. I got a golden ticket. So I've been dusting off my tennis game and getting back in shape, and I'm extremely happy about it.

Really nice Matt. And being an Aussie I love to see Australian woods in guitars. What sort of sound does the Tiger Myrtle give to the guitar? Is it similar to rosewood, mahogany, maple, walnut??

Nehemiah, here's a closeup shot of the rosette...
 Col, The tiger myrtle is very light. After handling it and working with it and now playing it I'm left with the impression that it's probably most like the Spanish cedar that flamenco guitars are made from. I guess of the common steel string guitar woods that would make it most like mahogany. ...and thanks again for the kind words y'all.

Thanks for the closeup Matt, that is one of the finest looking rosettes I've seen, I like the solid wood finished all the way to the hole. It really compliments the creamy white top and ties the instrument together. Beautiful guitar all the way around.
