You have nailed it perfectly.
I wish I could elaborate. Forum rules prohibit that.

I'm buying into the conspiracy theory, guys - a steady diet of cathartic beefcake sports and the perpetual threat of imminent, anxiety-inducing catastrophe keeps an otherwise troublesome population in its place!

That didn't work after I read and followed a few good historians. Except for one nation's recent breaking sort of a new norm, we (our species) are for the most part improving.

A CalTech Nasa researcher friend was quoted as we're actually in an era where learning and a lot of progress is accelerated and better because we are in essence going down the same dark halls with much brighter candles to see more and what was missed on past trips.

God I sure hope so ,,,because it seems like a large segment of the population has dug in like "ticks on a hound" to sustain their disconnect from reality

I think a segment of the population has come to understand the mirage. Whether it’s large or not, who knows.

Trust me in Wyoming the disconnect is a substantial portion

Me thinks the real question is ---Is this mirage actually there , or is its purported existence just more imaginary substantiation of disconnect ?

Its always been there.
Some people knew it. Others are becoming aware.

National news isn't going to cover severe weather unless there are deaths and significant destruction. Tornadoes in the midwest and other areas are not really newsworthy. If someone wants a weather report, turn on the local news or (maybe) the Weather Channel. Stay safe!
