Humm Perhaps except :
Regardless of weather the switch to a new mic comes as the take is continuing (but on a new section of the sample),,, or switches to the new mic (but repeats the same previous sample section) ,,,,, You still "hear the mics switch" .. I can see no practical, logical, or auditory difference of advantage one over the other, between just those two types of switch technique's ??? I can certainly understand someone might aesthetically prefer not to hear repeats, but as far as the auditory mechanism of "hearing the switch between the mics" ,,,it's the same exact switch (from one mic to the other ),,,either way

The only difference is with short repeats of same sample section between the different mics, you help eliminate two very possible variables.
#1 the fact that different phrases, and sections can be and are played differently, at different levels of attack, feel, expression, etc. that could skew objective analysis, and simply switching between the mics as the song continues invites that variable into the equation
#2 human memory is notoriously inaccurate so remembering and analyzing the sound of the mic, between two different song sections, is less likely to be as accurate as remembering/analyzing the sound on the same section

Hi Anton,

Since I am in the mood for a mic upgrade, I decided to try the Schoeps CMC6 mk41’s. This should be an interesting comparison using my signal chain: Avalon AD2022 ~~> Universal Audio 2192 converter ~~> Parasound amp / Daedalus 803 Monitors. I will let you know how they sound!
