Default WWDC June 2022

So it looks like we're not getting a new Mac Pro from this event and that, imo, turned this week into a ho-hum flop.

A recap of the pertinent parts...

The new M2 MacBook Air - the one bright spot this week although there was some speculation about it coming in a variety of cool colors and the addition of Midnight and Starlight fall far short of that.

The new M2 MacBook Pro - this is a bit of a stinker. The only real upgrade to this computer is the M2 chip. Everything else is pretty much the same as on the older M1 versions.

OS13 Ventura - I expected this later this year so I was surprised to hear it now. I don't think this was on the radar of very many people. That aside, it appears this update is going to leave a lot of people behind. Namely, anyone with a pre-2017 Mac.

Ventura will only be only available on the following devices:

2017 iMac and later
2017 iMac Pro and later
2018 MacBook Air and later
2017 MacBook Pro and later
2019 Mac Pro and later
2018 Mac mini and later
2017 MacBook and later
2022 Mac Studio

Overall, a pretty meh WWDC.

Ya I am guessing the next big thing will be the 3nm chip as opposed to the current 5nm .
But since the supply company (TSMC) won't be in production on 3 nm until the second half of this year, it looks like tey won't be going into Apple devices until 2023 SO the question is what chip will Apple use for the Mac Pro If they intend to actually launch it buy the end of 2022 .

Here is an article about 3 nm tech

Even with an N3 chip in the wings, the current M1 Ultra chip would have been a significant upgrade to what is presently in the Mac Pro. That makes me believe Apple is probably not inclined to offer the modest version of the Mac Pro I was hoping for. Not the end of the world for me, though, as I'm still very excited by the Mac Studio.

I do think they will launch the Pro this year. And perhaps even with some minor upgrade to the Current 5nm M1 Max and Ultra chips ( I read something along those lines but can't find it right now (other than a possible Quad Ultra chip ? ) But as to how that might shake out model and price wise, I have not heard/read anything.

FWIW - the Mac Studio we got for the studio is just killing it. That thing is a rocket. I mean, even Pro Tools launches fast [emoji1787]
