Barry,

You and I both share a deep appreciation for the playing of Stephen Wake. Here's another player that has been constantly playing around my house lately. Beautiful tone. His production is washed in even more reverb than Stephen's, but his base tone and playing is still beautiful like Stephens. My favorite recordings of Stephen's are the ones where is he playing nylon string (such as the Loch pieces). Lukasz plays even more nylon string than Stephen does.

Thanks for that!

>A LOT of the tone comes from pushing through the string instead of plucking it & the placement of the right hand with respect to the bridge.

Having read through the thread again, I think this from dkstott deserves emphasis.
FWIW, I prefer medium or low tension strings too, both for sound and feel.

I've pretty much settled in on D'Addario strings. I find them to be very consistent and good quality especially for the price.

I just came across this website recently and found it to be very good:

Agree that that's a very good site, and the proprietor, Bradford Werner, sends
out ~weekly email updates, too. He also has a nice, not too-daunting technique book
that I've been working out of recently (no affiliation- I just like the book):

Since I have some neuropathy in my right hand, I find his open-string exercises
helpful for RH warmup.
