I guess I’m not at all surprised to hear this sort of commentary...If pricing was equal I would still be inclined to go Larrivee given that it is North American and all that etc....Canadian-Born aspect doesn’t hurt either ;-0

I had to look that up. Dave is not at all far from me. His

than I saw at 5th string... an e10ss (slope shoulder,
dreadnought sized?) an e10d and an e20d...

Yeah I think he deals on Eastman and Larrivee. The best store in Greenville used to be The Deluxe Guitar Exchange. But that was probably eight years ago or more? Carried Bourgeoise, Huss & Dalton, and Collins I believe. Only true high end shop in SC that I was aware of? I wonder what ever happen to the owner Larry? Good guy I bought some stuff from him.

I was born and raised in Greenville, but never heard of that shop.
I moved 40 miles down the road after college, so Greenville has
been "the next town over" since then... you can still see the shell
of their reverb store and physical address on the innernet...

It was a candy store for sure. I only visited twice but did a few phone sales with him. I can't tell you the street name as I'm not overly familiar with Greenville. But it ran at a 45 degree angle to the left off of Main St. and was on the left. I believe there's an upscale kitchen store near that intersection. I remember Larry closed the original store and moved to another location. The two addresses I found are:
52 Blake Street
and
413 Vardry Street, Suite 2
Neither are open these days.

I played one of those Larrivee $1200 dreads not long ago and was very impressed, jaded though I am, I thought I could easily live with it.

Just reiterating that I had a similar experience while on vacation back in 2018.

Stopped in a local store who carried Eastman guitars. I could have stayed for hours.

There was an E2D (the all Sapele version), that just played great and sounded excellent. It was going to be under $400 on a Black Friday sale back then.

Last year, when I stopped by again, I played an E6D that was a step up in cost of course but pretty much a perfect D-18. Likewise I played one of the special E10SS/V vintage style models (with the hand rubbed finish). I would have found a reason to "need it" if I just had that sort of money laying around.

I hope to someday try out some a standard E10SS and the AC630.

Well, Mike, you may be near me, depending upon which road you went down. I’m down in Clinton. I’d love to meet you.

I'm up in the corner, in Oconee. After I graduated from
Clemson, I worked there for 35 years. I have some
connections to Laurens, so I've been around there
enough to know Clinton is pronounced "clinnon"

Funny...my playing partner at church is from Clinton. And just from being around him for the last 9-10 years I know it's pronounced "Clinnon" too! But all good southerners drop their "T's & G's!

Correct. I'm a native Georgian but was contacted to pastor a church here while I was in seminary (SBTS) in Louisville, KY almost 20 years ago. I was taught the "proper" pronunciation by a friend there who had graduated from Presbyterian College.

I confess I haven't played many Larivees, although I hear almost nothing negative about them. Our shop is about an hour from their factory in Oxnard.

Anyone who knows me knows what a big Eastman fan I am. Ironically, they're CA facility is also about an hour from our shop -- in the exact opposite direction.

It’s fiction in many places around the country.

FYI. I believe Daves Woodstock is online only with no storefront. I think most of the inventory is likely drop ship from the manufacturer. Dave, correct me if I’m wrong. Wish there were more guitar stores in this hood.
